Media Doorstop on the Second Wave of Mask Distribution - Ms Grace Fu
22 October 2026
Transcript of media doorstop by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-Charge of Trade Relations, on the second wave of mask distribution on 22 October 2026.
The health of our people remains our top priority. Haze situation can deteriorate in the near future, and so we must always be prepared. We want to distribute a second round of masks to the community.
The modality and eligibility remain the same from CC vending machine. However, on age for seniors, we want to lower the age criteria from 67 to 60 years old.
As long as you are 60 years and above, whether you are Merdeka Generation (MG) or Pioneer Generation (PG), you will be eligible for mask at the CC or from the vending machine.
I would like to encourage Singaporeans who have not collected their mask to do so soon when the weather is still good. Do it before the next round of air pollution strikes us.
We are also aware that in some instances, the shelves of some retail stores have been emptied of masks. We are working very closely with Ministry of Health (MOH) to basically draw on their national inventory to stock up and help the retailers with their stock.
FairPrice Group always has masks on their shelves, even in their online stores. We are helping to replenish the stocks at Sheng Siong, at Giant, at Cold Storage.
There is no need to panic. There are always masks available, and we just need to give the retailers some time to replenish their shelves.
They have it in their warehouse. They need to get that quickly to the shelves. We will work closely with them to ensure that the masks are always available on their shelves.
We are also aware that in the community there may be people who are in need of our help. I would like to encourage everyone, whether you are volunteers, neighbours, business owners or colleagues, please look out for those who are in special need.
Some elderlies may not be able to physically collect the mask, please help them. That includes some of the self-employed persons, such as hawkers, such as delivery riders.
If every one of us can do our part, the community, and the businesses, to support the vulnerable amongst us, we can pull through this haze episode, safe and sound.
Stay safe everyone.
