9 F&B Outlets Penalised for Breaching Safe Management Measures During Stepped-up Enforcement Checks Over the Weekend

Operators and members of the public reminded to observe safe management measures for the year-end period

Nine food and beverage (F&B) premises have been penalised for breaching safe management measures (SMMs) following stepped-up enforcement checks by government agencies over the last weekend. Agencies will continue to step up enforcement at F&B outlets as we approach the year-end period.

Breaches at F&B Premises

2 Seven F&B outlets were ordered to close for SMMs and Vaccination Differentiated SMMs (VDS) breaches such as failing to minimise interaction between staff and customers, and failing to put in place a system to perform checks on the vaccination status of patrons before their entry.

3 Two other F&B outlets were issued composition fines for committing SMMs breaches. These included failing to ensure a safe distance of at least 1 metre between seated customers, and failing to ensure SafeEntry check-in by every customer entering the premises. Please refer to Annex A for details of offences, and Annex B for photos.

4 Strict compliance with SMMs (including VDS) is critical for everyone's safety, particularly amid the global risk of the Omicron variant. During the year-end festive period, agencies will continue to step up checks on F&B outlets to ensure that VDS and SMMs are strictly adhered to. Firm enforcement action will be taken against operators and individuals who do not comply with SMMs, including the proper wearing of masks. Enforcement action includes prosecution and the revocation of licences.

Staying Vigilant During the Year-End Period

5 As we spend time with loved ones and friends this festive period, we urge everyone to take individual responsibility and exercise socially responsible behaviour. This is to protect their own health and that of others, amid the emerging threat of the Omicron variant. Please remain vigilant, observe SMMs, and avoid hotspots where possible. Seniors are urged to stay home, avoid crowded places, and go out only for essential activities over the next few weeks. Those who feel unwell or are sick should seek medical attention and stay home.

ANNEX A

F&B PREMISES ORDERED TO CLOSE FOR BREACHING SAFE MANAGEMENT MEASURES

  1. Angel Bar Beer (5001 Beach Road #02-23 Golden Mile Complex) failed to ensure safe distancing of at least 1 metre between groups of seated customers. The operator has been issued an order to close for 10 days from 23 December 2021 to 1 January 2022 (both dates inclusive).

  2. HARU (3 Magazine Road #01-01) had provided dice games to patrons to be played within its premises. As the establishment is a repeat offender, the operator has been issued an order to close for 40 days from 22 December 2021 to 30 January 2022 (both dates inclusive).

  3. PUB 98 (237 Joo Chiat Road) delayed the entry of enforcement officers into its premises and allowed intermingling between different groups of seated customers. The operator has been issued an order to close for 10 days from 18 to 27 December 2021 (both dates inclusive).

  4. Mohican Pub & Music Lounge (26 Madras Street) failed to minimise interaction between staff and customers, and failed to ensure safe distancing of at least 1 metre between groups of seated customers. The operator has been issued an order to close for 10 days from 18 to 27 December 2021 (both dates inclusive).

  5. Euphoria (19 Tanglin Road Tanglin Shopping Centre B1-28) failed to minimise interaction between staff and customers and had deployed hostesses, failed to ensure safe distancing of at least 1 metre between groups of seated customers, failed to ensure SafeEntry check-in by every customer entering the premises, and did not have a system to perform checks on vaccination statuses of patrons before entry. As the establishment is a repeat offender, the operator has been issued an order to close for 20 days from 18 December 2021 to 6 January 2022 (both dates inclusive).

  6. Club Hermes (161 Kitchener Road) failed to minimise interaction between staff and customers, and had deployed hostesses. The operator has been issued an order to close for 10 days from 19 to 28 December 2021 (both dates inclusive).

  7. The Tanglin Gin Jungle (26B Dempsey Road) had allowed staff to consume alcohol within the premises after 10.30pm. The operator has been issued an order to close for 10 days from 23 December 2021 to 1 January 2022 (both dates inclusive).

F&B PREMISES FINED FOR BREACHING SAFE MANAGEMENT MEASURES

  1. CY Bistro (5001 Beach Road #B1-05/06 Golden Mile Complex) was fined $1,000 for failing to ensure safe distancing of at least 1 metre between groups of customers.

  2. Thong Lor (5001 Beach Road #02-24 Golden Mile Complex) was fined $1,000 for failing to ensure SafeEntry check-in by every customer that had entered the premises.
