SG Eco Fund Celebrates 5 Years of Building a Sustainable Community Together

Singapore, 21 June 2025 – The SG Eco Fund marked its 5th anniversary today by recognising the contributions and achievements of its grant recipients, who have been driving positive environmental change across Singapore. The milestone celebration, hosted by an SG Eco Fund grant recipient, Vidacity, at its sustainability hub (Annex A), brought together passionate individuals and organisations who have transformed their ground-up ideas into impactful environmental sustainability projects.
2 Since its launch in November 2020, the SG Eco Fund has been a catalyst for environmental action, with a focus on supporting projects that rally collective action towards environmentally-friendly behaviour. A total of $18.6 million in funding was awarded to empower over 350 individuals, groups and organisations to initiate community projects across a broad range of topics, including on waste reduction and recycling, community growing of food, conservation of nature and biodiversity, and education and outreach on sustainability. Through the initiatives implemented by grant recipients, more than 700,000 people were engaged on sustainability.
3 In celebration of Singapore's 60th anniversary (SG60), the SG Eco Fund enhanced its Sprout category, increasing the maximum grant amount from $8,000 to $30,000 for projects submitted throughout 2025. Over 90 applications were submitted from January to April 2025, which is the highest number of Sprout applications received within a four-month period since the category’s launch in 2021, and nearly triple the typical number of Sprout applications received in the same period. Applications include creating biodiversity trails in schools for students to better appreciate nature, food waste reduction and composting workshops for preschool children, and innovative heat resilience solutions for the seniors. Evaluations are ongoing, and the results will be released in July 2025.
4 Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, graced the anniversary event as Guest-of-Honour and commended grant recipients and partners for their passion and commitment in engaging communities on sustainability initiatives with the support of the SG Eco Fund. In her remarks, she highlighted how collective efforts from the community have blossomed into self-sustaining networks of citizens working towards a more sustainable Singapore, while also building a more caring and inclusive society.
5 The anniversary celebration featured performances by grant recipients, including Lyfestyle Group’s energetic Green Drumming Performance using instruments crafted from upcycled materials, and The WKND Company's sustainability-themed Trashion Show featuring fashion pieces created from repurposed textiles. About 20 grant recipients (Annex B) also engaged visitors through interactive booth displays, showcasing their SG Eco Fund projects and community engagement efforts on sustainability.

About Vidacity
Vidacity was awarded funding in SG Eco Fund’s 4th Grant Call for their sustainability programmes. Vidacity brings together startups, businesses and the community to drive innovation and tackle environmental and social challenges.
The origins of Vidacity can be traced back to 2022 when Mr Zac Toh, Vidacity’s CEO, attended COP27 in Egypt and realised that there was an urgent need to support SMEs and startups in addressing the world’s biggest environmental and social issues. He wanted to create an ecosystem where innovators, businesses, investors and the community could come together and contribute to a more sustainable future. Presented with the old Loyang Primary School in Pasir Ris, Zac decided to rejuvenate the used space to house the new ecosystem. This led to the creation of Vidacity.
Vidacity was officially launched on 14 May 2024 by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
