Singapore and Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on Food Security on 10 April 2026 in Singapore.
Singapore and Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on Food Security on 10 April 2026 in Singapore. The MOC was signed by Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu, and Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul.
The MOC reiterates both countries’ commitment to strengthen food security and bilateral rice trade, through open trade and avoiding unnecessary trade restrictions. Under the MOC, the Royal Government of Cambodia will support the sale of rice on mutually agreed terms, upon request by the Government of Singapore.
Minister Fu said, “Ongoing geopolitical tensions increase the risk of global food supply disruptions. The signing of this MOC is win-win and reaffirms the close cooperation between both countries in strengthening bilateral food trade and security.”
This MOC marks Singapore’s third such agreement with similar agreements signed with Viet Nam and Thailand. Such agreements are key initiatives under the Global Partnerships pillar of the Singapore Food Story 2 to keep food supply flowing during disruptions. Singapore will continue to explore mutually beneficial agreements with like-minded economies to strengthen our food supply resilience.
