Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on AEDs in Hawker Centres by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment.
Question:
Mr Cai Yinzhou: To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) how many hawker centres currently have an automated external defibrillator (AED) installed; (b) what are the plans to expand AED installation to the remaining hawker centres; and (c) whether NEA will require AEDs at all hawker centres, including through its tenancy and management agreements with operators.
Answer:
There are currently 41 hawker centres that have an automated external defibrillator (AED) installed within the hawker centre.
Hawker centres that do not have an AED installed are either co-located in a larger development or located within walking distance of buildings that have AEDs installed. For example, under the Save-A-Life initiative, AEDs are available at the lift lobby of every two HDB blocks. Hawker centre patrons may find the locations of these AEDs via the Singapore Civil Defence Force’s myResponder mobile application.
