Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on BCRS quiet hours by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment.
Question:
Mr Pritam Singh: To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment in view of the noise generated by individuals who deposit large quantities of recyclable cans and bottles at the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) vending machines located at HDB void decks in particular, whether the Ministry would consider requiring recycling machines at these locations to be turned off during official HDB-mandated 'quiet hours’.
Answer:
We have not received much feedback on noise generated from the Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs). Where individual cases do occur, BCRS Ltd. will assess public feedback and usage patterns, and engage the relevant Town Councils to determine if the locations or operating hours of RVMs need to be adjusted.
We encourage members of the public to be considerate when using the RVMs.
