Question:
To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment whether (a) the Climate Vouchers can be extended to tenants residing under Single Room Shared Facilities to encourage take-up of climate friendly appliances; and (b) if not, what are the considerations.
Answer:
1 Under the enhanced Climate Friendly Households Programme (CFHP), Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident HDB households, as well as Singapore Citizen households living in private residential properties can claim $400 in Climate Vouchers to lower the upfront cost of resource-efficient appliances and fittings. The vouchers can be used by the residents to purchase ten eligible types of products, including common resource-intensive household products with high water and electricity usage rates such as refrigerators and washing machines.
2 The units in HDB’s Single Room Shared Facilities (SRSF) are furnished with energy and water-efficient appliances, including refrigerators and lights fixtures. They also have shared facilities including toilets, kitchens, laundry and activity rooms for tenants. Tenants thus need not purchase their own appliances and water fixtures. NEA will continue to periodically review the enhanced CFHP, including its coverage.
