Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Smoking at Rooftop by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment.

Question:

Mr Alex Yeo: To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) what is the status of the Ministry's ongoing review of smoking prohibition regulations in respect of rooftop gardens above multi-storey car parks within HDB estates; and (b) whether the Ministry has set a timeline for such review, since such spaces increasingly serve as community recreational areas.

Answer:

Smoking is currently not prohibited in open‑air rooftops of multi-storey carparks (MSCP). Nonetheless, we recognise that such spaces are increasingly being used as communal recreational areas such as rooftop gardens and will consider the Member’s suggestion.
