Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Unauthorised Hawker Stall Subletting by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment.
Question:
Ms Diana Pang Li Yen: To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) how many cases of unauthorised subletting of hawker stalls have been detected annually in the past five years; and (b) whether there have been any trends or changes in the nature of such cases in recent years.
Answer:
The National Environment Agency (NEA) takes a firm stance against subletting of hawker stalls and conducts regular inspections to ensure that stallholders personally operate their stalls. Between 2021 and 2025, NEA issued notices to quit to about 180 stallholders who had received previous warnings for not personally operating their stalls.
