Year of Climate Adaptation
To signal climate adaptation as a national priority, MSE has designated 2026 as the Year of Climate Adaptation.

YEAR OF CLIMATE ADAPTATION
Climate change poses risks that can affect Singapore in many ways. Higher temperatures, rising sea levels, and more wet and dry extremes can impact many aspects of our daily lives - from our health and well-being to our living environment, and even our economic, resource and social resilience.
The impacts of climate change could worsen. According to Singapore's Third National Climate Change Study (V3), mean sea level is projected to rise up to 1.15 metres by 2100. Coupled with storm surges and high tides, sea levels could reach up to 5 metres. Daily maximum temperatures could increase by up to 5.3°C, and days with high heat stress and warm nights will be the new normal.
While Singapore continues to reduce its carbon footprint and minimise further emissions, the irreversible effects of climate change from past emissions, coupled with the global uncertainty around climate commitments, mean that we must be prepared for new climate realities.
Hence, we must respond decisively to adapt to our changing climate.
To signal climate adaptation as a national priority, MSE has designated 2026 as the Year of Climate Adaptation. This national effort aims to strengthen our collective resilience - by citizens, businesses and civil society - against impacts from climate change. It also involves a comprehensive review of climate adaptation measures across key domains such as heat resilience, coastal & flood resilience, and water & food resilience.

Playing your part in Climate Adaptation
Join our engagements to shape Singapore's first National Adaptation Plan
Building a climate-resilient Singapore is a shared responsibility. The government will be engaging citizens, businesses, and civil society to develop Singapore's first National Adaptation Plan - a long-term living strategy to protect Singapore and Singaporeans from the impacts of climate change.
MSE and the relevant government agencies will conduct a series of engagements throughout the year on various climate adaptation areas. A public exhibition will also be organised to deepen Singaporeans' understanding, participation, and commitment towards climate adaptation. In the spirit of 'We First', all of us can play an active role in ensuring a thriving, climate-ready Singapore for generations to come.
